Ex-GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist, Wife Explain Pre-GRAMMY Incident
February 16, 2004Arlett Vereecke, the publicist for former GUNS N' ROSES/current VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash and his wife Perla, has released a statement offering Slash and Perla's version of the incident that occurred last weekend at Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy bash at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
According to an account published in yesterday's edition of the New York Post, a cat fight ensued after Perla, who is five months pregnant with the couple's second child, tried to squeeze by a female reveler on her way out of Davis' bash. Perla had allegedly grabbed the bun on the back of the woman's coif. Later, the victim hammed up her injuries so much, the police nearly arrested her.
Slash and Perla, however, have a different explanation for what transpired on the night in question.
"When Slash's pregnant wife Perla Hudson was heading towards the crammed exit ahead of Slash who was saying goodbye to one of several guests, she found herself surrounded by crowds of guests and media people," according to Slash and Perla's written statement.
"As Mrs. Hudson was snaking her way through the crowd, she was shoved by un unknown, belligerent woman yelling obscenities at her.
"The unknown 'shover' continued her assault on Mrs. Hudson, even ripping her dress, when the commotion and cry for help from Perla caught Slash's attention who raced to her side, only to be confronted by the woman.
"Police were called to the scene, but the offender continued to refuse to identify herself."
